Because he was the "rusty-colored" puppy in the litter, "Rusty" got tagged with his call name at birth.
His registered name came a few months later - after the passing of his grandmother.
Rusty is the last grandson of Jamaica ~
( CH. Prizm's Fun In The Sun ) whom
crossed over the "rainbow bridge" just
a few months after Rusty was born .
So, in memory of Jamaica, I decided to
name him after her ( a sunset ) .

Rusty's father Quin, has a pedigree of old
foundation Aussie bloodlines. Quin goes back to Taylor's Whiskey quite a few times
and about as up close as you can get in
these times. Quin definitely injects his old style into his offspring and I am fortunate to have the last litter out of Quin.
Quin, being a big boy ( a solid 22 inches )
was selected for our petite little Shady,
who also had some older ( but different ) Aussie bloodlines behind her.

Rusty loves to work in the pasture when we allow him. In correct Aussie style,
he is an authoritive worker but is not an
obsessive, prey-driven worker.
He does his job without instruction and when he feels satisfied that he got the
task completed, he will hang back and
just make sure things are as he thinks
they should be ( LOL ).
Rusty posesses a reserved temperament with strangers but he is a sensible dog. We admire his protective side when we get to see it and we love his biddability and easy to live with temperament.
He gets along with other dogs and has
an over-all calmer type of personality.
